SRX4 3.0 packed full of style and character, but rough ride spoils slightly
American steel is largely missing from the premium vehicle scene these days, and that’s something Cadillac’s looking to change. With a rapidly-expanding CTS lineup, a fresh new ad campaign, and a recent update to one of their most important models, the SRX, they’re zoning in on the luxury shopper’s dollar.

Those familiar with the last-generation SRX almost unanimously approved of the more energetic, compact and detail-dense appearance of the new machine.

Completely redone and decked-out for its second tour of duty, the 2010 SRX offers up new gadgets, engines and features. GM hopes its chrome-clad armor and advanced technological weaponry will help it successfully battle its German and Japanese competition.

A striking looker
The tester was visited by many fans in parking lots and gas stations, most of whom commented positively on its nicely-decorated, aggressive, and upscale look. Those familiar with the last-generation SRX almost unanimously approved of the more energetic, compact and detail-dense appearance of the new machine.

Designers have ultimately transformed the SRX’s body into one that’s less awkward, more defined, and more sophisticated. It’s almost as if the SRX has now successfully passed through sport-ute styling puberty. One concern though: the chrome fender vents look like they were lifted from the Saturn Vue, and they don’t do the SRX any favours.

Stand-out interior
The efforts of SRX's designers are most apparent in the new cabin. Colours, textures and trim are appropriately matched to each other, and there’s a pleasing cohesiveness between all elements that tie the atmosphere together. It's full of character.

The dash and console look great from either row of seating, and they’re set off by accent lighting and one of the most gorgeous instrument clusters on the market today. The tester was also fitted optionally with a panoramic moonroof, rear seat-mounted DVD screens, a pop-up navigation screen and a robust Bose stereo with hard drive.
