I've just spent a week in a nice SUV.

Actually, let me rephrase that slightly... I've just spent a week in a "Nice" SUV.

Yes, I have to be honest, in my mind that little four letter word perfectly sums up the Pilot EX-L Navi from Honda.

Its looks cannot be described as exciting.

You see, as a bit of an automotive enthusiast (you have to be to work in this field), I enjoy all types of vehicles, sports cars, luxury sedans, racy coupes, SUV's. Heck, I have even been known to rant and rave over the odd commercial vehicle!

However, of all the vehicles that I have been asked to review, they have all had one thing in common; good or bad, they invoked something inside of me, and pretty much compelled me to write.

Alas, sadly I struggled at first with my review of the Honda Pilot. The exact cause of my dilemma was initially quite hard to pinpoint. After all, I couldn't really think of anything truthfully negative to say about the vehicle. On the other hand, I was at a bit of a loss to find anything which excited me enough to race to the keyboard!

From the outside the pilot is quite pleasing to the eye, and has rather nice lines, although if I wanted to be really picky, I personally found the nose slightly out of proportion to the rest of the bodywork.

I particularly made note that my eyes were not distracted from those lines by the copious amount of chrome trim which is often fitted on some of its competitors. No, far from it, the Honda Pilot has a certain air of "understated refinement", you might call it.

Of course, Honda does offer an available Chrome Package which includes chrome side step bars, bumper garnish, door mirror covers, and a sporty exhaust finisher at an additional cost of $2,216.59, if you're looking for a little extra Bling! (I discovered this by looking at the long list of available options on the Honda website).

The fit and finish of the body panels were of typical Honda quality, and the paintwork was bright and appeared to have been well-applied. This is pretty much what we have become accustomed to with Honda products and its top of the line SUV seems to nicely follow along the same traditions.

As is the case with mostly all Honda products, body panels are well assembled.
