Slotted in below the seductive and scandalous FX crossover SUV, Infiniti's new EX series was unveiled to the public yesterday and adds to the Japanese luxury carmakers lineup of vehicles which satisfy buyers passionate about design, technology and performance.

The Japanese-styled EX35 is set off with a swooping roofline, tall and well-planted stance, chrome accenting, and a set of large polished wheels. It's been carefully penned to pack the visual emotion of a coupe, with the capability and poise of an SUV. EX's short overhangs work with a low roofline for a trim, fit look while enabling a lower centre of gravity than most 4x4's. "The EX35 is the perfect fusion of a luxury coupe and a sporty 4x4," said Jim Wright, Vice President Infiniti Europe.

Driving this 4x4 is a fourth-generation VQ V6 engine displacing 3.5 litres and dispensing an estimated 290 horsepower. The engine is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission with downshift rev matching, adaptive shift control and a manual mode to enhance performance feel and maximize driver enjoyment.

Power is applied to all four wheels through Infiniti's advanced all wheel drive system, called ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split). The system monitors driver intentions, available traction and other variables to intelligently deliver torque where it's needed most.

This affords drivers a high level of confidence in any weather situation, leaving them more time to take in the sumptuous interior. Available with cloth or leather seating trim, the EX35 will be available with a number of color schemes inside, as Infiniti says buyers in this class value a high degree of personalization. High tech features include Bluetooth wireless phone interface, intelligent key system and a hard-drive based navigation and entertainment system which can store 9.3 gigabytes of information.

Functional as it is beautiful, the interior offers up an 8-way driver and passenger seat, heated seating surfaces and a memory function. Power-folding 60/40 rear seating can be operated from the hatch or cockpit area, allowing owners to get the most out of the EX's interior. There's even a dual-subwoofer Bose stereo system and Ipod connectivity.
