Pros: You get a bowtie on the front without dishing out tons of cash for a tuxedo, if you catch our drift. Well appointed and good-looking for a good price, the Trax has lots going for it.

Cons: Despite sporting a turbocharged engine, the Trax isn’t exactly exhilarating to drive. So if it’s a fun ride you’re looking for along with your compact crossover, the Trax might not be for you.

2015 Chevrolet Trax Price and Fuel Economy: There are actually quite a few versions of the Trax available, and both FWD and AWD models. They are as listed below:

FWD models:

  • 2015 Chevrolet Trax LS $19,130
  • 2015 Chverolet Trax LT 1LT $24,210
  • 2015 Chevrolet Trax LT 2LT $26,765
  • 2015 Chverolet Trax LTZ $28,600

AWD models:

  • 2015 Chevrolet Trax LT 1LT $26,210
  • 2015 Chevrolet Trax LT 2LT $28,765
  • 2015 Chevrolet Trax LTZ $30,600

As there are front-wheel and all-wheel drive models as well as an automatic and manual transmission to choose from, the fuel economy numbers range from a combined rating of 8.1L/100km (front-wheel drive manual) to 8.7L/100km (all-wheel drive automatic).

Powertrain: Regardless of drivetrain selected, the engine remains the same: an ECOTEC 1.4L I-4 turbocharged mill that produces 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. As mentioned above, a 6-speed manual is standard in the LS model only; otherwise a 6-speed automatic with Driver Shift Control is standard.  All-wheel drive is optional on the 1LT, 2LT, and LTZ models.

Changes and Improvements: New for this year, Chevrolet introduced 4G LTE Wi-Fi capabilities across its lineup of vehicles, and the 2015 Trax was treated to the high-tech feature as well.

Cargo Capacity: The 2015 Chevrolet Trax offers room for five, and with the rear seats up, there’s 530 litres of cargo space. Fold those seats down and you’re looking at 1,371 litres to swallow up all your goods.

Safety: The 2015 Chevrolet Trax comes equipped with all manner of safety equipment and standard airbags, as well as OnStar (standard across the lineup), LATCH child safety seat tether system, SatbiliTrak electronic stability control system, and traction control.

Comparing the 2015 Chevrolet Trax: Subaru XV Crosstrek, Jeep Renegade, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, Fiat 500X.
