In a world everything is barely sufficient to survive, a faster, more powerful, capable and hardcore pickup is a must. And I’m being serious. Mostly.

The arrival of the latest F-150 for the 2015 model year meant nothing less than the coming of a new Raptor. For the 2ne coming of the most #badass full-size pickup, Ford’s not left any stone untouched.

The most noteworthy elements are the addition of Ford’s 3.5L EcoBoost V6, replacing the stonking 6.2L V8. Out is the 6-speed autobox, in is a *gasp* 10-speed automatic… Horsepower numbers have not yet been revealed however expect the stampede to be considerable larger than the V8’s meagre 411hp.

This is a high-performance off-road truck so it’s got power and all the necessary gear to take we beyond the beaten path. Essentially a street-legal Baja race truck, the Raptor is equipped with a new FOX Racing Shox with custom internal bypass technology, keeping the truck stable over massive bumps and preventing bottoming out. Wheel travel on the new Raptor will be greater than the current truck’s 11.2” front and 12” rear.

The new wider Raptor will include six preset drive modes for all manners of driving conditions:

  • Normal mode for everyday driving
  • Street mode for higher-performance, on-road driving
  • Weather mode for rain, snow or ice
  • Mud and sand mode for muddy and sandy trails and terrain
  • Baja mode for high-speed desert running and
  • Rock mode for low-speed rock crawling

Safe to say that this latest beast will be the benchmark in a small segment that includes the RAM Power Wagon and other potential members including the Nissan Titan XD Warrior concept.
