The Fisker Karma was previously set to rise from its ashes in 2015 (those who remember the hybrid sports sedans that caught fire in 2012 will appreciate the pun), but Reuters is now quoting two inside sources who claim that the company will resume sales in mid-2016 instead.
Wanxiang, which purchased Fisker, firmly believed it could revive the Karma this year under the name Elux Karma, but that won't be the case. What's more, the car will not be assembled in Finland as earlier planned. Wanxiang has not yet finalized a production site, the sources said.
The new Elux Karma is expected to cost around $135,000 USD, about 20% more than the final price of the original Karma.
One of the sources said Wanxiang is spending "millions" to update the car's hardware, much of which dates back to 2007, to make it more competitive with newer, more technologically advanced vehicles introduced in the last several years.
