Ford has given the Freestyle a once-over and a new name, the Taurus X. They will be keeping it in its catalogue even though the new Edge has arrived and the existing plans for the upcoming Fairlane. The new look imitates the Edge's front fascia which itself was inspired by the Fusion. The grille and headlight treatment give the Taurus X more character; a welcomed change from the anonymous Five Hundred-inspired design. Thankfully, Ford will replace the anaemic 3.0L V6 with the more powerful 260-hp 3.5L V6 also found in the Edge and Lincoln MKZ. The only transmission available is the same 6-speed automatic as in the Edge and AWD remains an option. FYI, this gearbox is a GM/Ford collaboration.
