Pros
Impeccable fit, finish, and high-quality materials, comfortable and supportive seats, easy-to-read instruments and sophisticated security features are just a few of the many examples that confirm that the 2013 Volvo S80 offers a lot for the money.
Cons
What we don't like is the tight rear seating, thirsty engine, outdated all-wheel drive system and reduced rear visibility. What's more, driving pleasure has taken a back seat to ride comfort.
Price
A 2013 Volvo S80 equipped with the 3.2 litre normally-aspirated engine starts at $47,450. It's available in three versions. The base model includes leather seat inserts, keyless ignition, 17-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth, and foglights.
The premier Plus version is available from $48,700 and is equipped with standard bi-xenon directional headlights, parking assist, and digital compass.
The Platinum edition, which starts at $52,000, offers additional standard navigation system with live traffic updates, backup camera, and Premium Sound audio system.
The turbocharged 6-cylinder model starts at $55,300. The Premium Plus and Platinum models start at $56,500 and $59,850 respectively.
Fuel Economy
Fuel economy ratings for both engines are estimated at 10.5 L/100 km city and 6.8 L/100 km highway.
Exterior Styling
The S80 has an elegant, sober, yet classical design that does not betray its age. Introduced in 2007, it remains current, with its distinctive and unique front grille.

Drivetrain
There is a choice of two different engines for the S80, which are both mated to a 6-speed adaptive automatic transmission. The in-line 6-cylinder 3.2 litre engine produces 240 hp and 236 lb-ft torque. It is available exclusively in the front-wheel drive model. If all-wheel drive is what you are looking for, you need to turn to the in-line 6-cylinder turbocharged 3.0 litre engine that delivers 300 hp and 320 lb-ft torque.
Cargo Capacity
The trunk has a total volume of 422 litres.
Safety
Equipped with six standard airbags, this model is a paragon of safety features. On top of the numerous optional active safety features, anti-lock brakes with hydraulic assist, ready-alert brakes, and dynamic stability and traction control are all standard features.
