Mercedes-Benz decided to kick the week off with a bang by revealing the third generation of the 2012 ML63 AMG before its world premier at the Los Angeles Auto show.
The base ML 63 features a 5.5L twin-turbo V8 that punches out 518 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque (550 hp and 560 lb-ft with the optional AMG package).
A 7-speed automatic transmission dispatches all that grunt to the four corners via the 4MATIC system. Equipped with said AWD, the Merc ML 63 will leap from 0 to 97 km/h in just 4.7 seconds (4.6 with the AMG package).
As for handling, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG is underpinned by a speed-sensitive, adaptive air suspension system hooked up to 20" wheels shod in high-performance tires.
Several sporty touches set the ML 63 SUV apart from other versions. Other than the AMG badges, the two sets of twin tail pipes are a dead giveaway, hinting at the German V8’s throaty roar.
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG will hit dealerships in the first quarter of 2012.
