ALMS: Klaus Graf takes another 2011 pole at Road America

Klaus Graf has taken back the pole he nearly missed last year in Road America on Friday as the American Le Mans Series visited the track for its sixth round of the 2011 season.

Graf had the best of rival Steven Kane by more than three tenth of a second. Kane shares his ride with Humaid Al Masaood in Road America while Graf share his Lola-Aston Martin with Lucas Luhr.

Third will be Chris Dyson and Guy Smith in the Lola-Mazda of Dyson racing. The team leads the LMP1 championship ahead of Muscle Milk, Graf's team, by 22 points.

In GT, championship leader Dirk Müller took his second class pole position at the Road America course with a lap of 2:05.447 in his BMW M3 GT he shares with teammate Joey Hand. They will be looking for a second victory in a row at RA and a fourth this season.

Jan Magnussen was only 0.005 second behind at the start-finish line and took the second position of the class in the Corvette C6.R he shares with Oliver Gavin.

As a matter of fact, the top-5 qualifiers were wuite close form one another with a gap  of only 0.932. Toni Vilander qualified third on the Ferrari F458 he shares with Jaime Melo.

The four-hour race will be held on Saturday afternoon, in Road America.
