The Auto123.com team is delighted to announce that it will be competing in the Rallye international vert de Montréal, from September 30th through October 2nd behind the wheel of a 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid!
The event, unique in North America, is part of the FIA’s international Alternative Energies Cup, which has been held for the last five years in 10 countries on four continents.
Olivier Delorme and Marc-André Hallé will join forces and represent our team for the 600-km event where precision is key.
They’ll be competing against the likes of Patrick Carpentier (Honda CR-Z), the reigning Alternative Energies World Cup champion François Raymond (2012 Toyota Prius) and rally spokesperson Claude Quenneville (Mitsubishi i-MiEV).
Registered vehicles will be split into several classes including hybrids, EVs, biofuel and diesel, as well as weight categories (car, SUV, truck, prototype, etc.).
The first stage will start the evening of Friday, September 30th from the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Then it’s off to Lachute on Saturday, October 1st, and finally Saint-Hyacinthe on Sunday, October 2nd. The adventure will come to an end in downtown Montreal on Sunday afternoon.
McGill College Avenue will serve as both the start and finish line throughout the weekend and the Rendez-vous des énergies, an exhibition of alternative technologies and energies, will also be held there. Hydro-Québec, Honda and Toyota will all have booths, and CAA-Québec will be giving visitors the chance to try an eco-driving simulator.
Next week, Auto123.com will publish the results of the rally as well as a few articles recounting the trials and tribulations of Olivier and Marc-André. And be sure to follow us on Twitter throughout the weekend!
