The Canadian division of FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) has just announced pricing details for the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel version.
Auto123 is on hand for the launch event and we’ll have a full review of the EcoDiesel for you next week, so stay tuned! Meantime, here’s what the company announced in terms of pricing and trims.
Starting price for the diesel version is $49,395 CAD. This would be the Tradesman Quad Cab with front-wheel drive. Buyers will have to factor in another $1,895 in transport and preparation fees.
In effect, the 3.0L V6 diesel engine boosts the cost of a Tradesman or Big Horn equipped with the 3.6L Pentastar eTorque V6 by $5,800. In the case of Sport, Rebel, Laramie, Longhorn and Limited versions with the 5.7L V8 Hemi, the extra cost is $3,900.
“The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel offers the best torque and towing among all half-ton diesel trucks. Now with a 10-year track record, the Ram brand has emerged as a truck powertrain technology leader. Overall, the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel has outstanding pick-up truck capability and is truly in a class of its own.”
- Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand
The capability Bigland refers to translates into 480 lb-ft of torque and maximal towing capacity of 5,697 kg, or 12,560 lb.
For the first time, the diesel configuration will be available with the Rebel version of the truck. It can also be had with the 2019 Ram Classic truck in 4X4 configuration with Quad Cab, for a princely sum of $51,370.
