Nearly 50 years after the original, a new Fiat 124 Spider made its debut today at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. It will go on sale next year.
The company also announced that 124 units will be available as limited-production 'Anniversary' models. Their availability in North America has yet to be confirmed, however.
Inspired by the 1966 Spider, the Fiat 124 Spider not only looks like the Mazda MX-5, but it also shares some components with the Japanese roadster, none more important than the platform. Under the hood is a 4-cylinder MultiAir turbocharged engine producing 140 horsepower, along with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Other highlights include a soft folding top, adaptive headlights, a rear-view camera, a 7” touch screen, Bluetooth connectivity, keyless entry, and heated seats.
