After confirming that it had come to terms with veteran driver Tony Kanaan to end their partnership, Andretti Autosports announced that it has signed Ryan Hunter-Reay to a new contract for the next two seasons.
Hunter-Reay, who had limited sponsorship during part of the season, still enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2010, especially after winning the Grand Prix of Long Beach and finishing seventh in the standings.
"We're thrilled to be able to sign Ryan to a multi-year contract," said team owner Michael Andretti. "He is a driver that has earned the right to have that kind of stability and we feel very fortunate to know that he will be a major piece of our foundation going forward."
The sponsors of Hunter-Reay's 2011 IndyCar effort will be announced in the near future, but the terms of the new contract won’t be disclosed.
To many observers, that new signing means that Hunter-Reay will probably become the central figure in the team’s assault on the championship in the coming seasons.
Danica Patrick still has to decide if her future lies in NASCAR while Marco Andretti lack uneven record.
