The names Lamborghini and Ferrari usually come to mind when talking about supercars. In a world where speed and power trump everything, most people inexplicably forget to mention Koenigsegg. That will sure change after the Swedish automaker released the specs of the magnificent Agera R unveiled a couple of weeks ago in Geneva.
The 5.0-litre V8 engine under the sheetmetal cranks out a whopping 1,115 horsepower when running on E85 ethanol. Output drops to 1,050 hp with 98-octane gas or 940 hp with 95-octane gas. Top speed is rated at over 420 km/h.
Acceleration times are just as mind-blowing. The Agera R sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 7.5 seconds. Ventilated carbon ceramic brakes help complete the 0-200-0 km/h in a mere 12.7 seconds.
Standard features include an adaptive rear wing, a hydraulic lifting system, a satellite navigation system, a G sensor, leather carpets and a silver key.
Koenigsegg charges extra for options such as visible carbon body panels, a rear-view camera, heated seats, a ski box roof, a winter wheel package and 4-point racing harnesses.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but the Agera R is expected to cost well beyond €1,000,000 ($CA 1,383,064).
