MINI debuts new Cooper in North America (VIDEO)

It might be hard to discern the new MINI from the old one, but the 2007 coupe will get a host of improvements.

New engines reside in the Cooper's snout: the base model gets a 120-hp, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder, while the S models get a turbocharged version with 175 hp. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

The new MINI Cooper coupe should be on sale in February.

The convertible model will soldier on for 2007 in its current form, and the Cooper S Sidewalk edition will be available in April.
