After Nissan introduced its electric cube car, Mitsubishi, another Japanese automaker, also launched into the production of electric cars. This time, it was not a question of prototypes but of cars already heading to the production line.

The I Car, already known to some in its gasoline version, will soon make an appearance in Japan in a complete electric version. The MIEV (Mitsubishi in-wheel motor Electric Vehicle) has already been seen on Japanese roadways, and will go through further tests in north America this fall.
A more advanced version of this model, the I Car Sport, was also shown, this time offering more eco-friendly options such as a solar roof, and air-powered turbine engines.
In the more realistic category, Mitsubishi's Concept CX, a mini SUV also made its north American debut but is still in project status.
In terms of environmental protection, Subaru also impressed with their R1e, a little electric vehicle, which will be made available commercially in Japan before the end of summer. Already known to car enthusiasts, the R1e will make its way over to North America with the New York Power Company, will carry out daily road tests starting in fall.
Style and Performance
Day 2 was not completely about green issues. Other manufacturers chose to focus on car performance and unique style. It was difficult not to be impressed by the Kisashi 3, the 3rd generation of a 4-door sedan, Suzuki promises for 2010. While the first two versions were closer to something out of science fiction, the Kisashi 3 promises to be closer to a production model.
