Nissan is recalling over 3.8 million cars worldwide, 80% of which are in North America, due to a problem with the passenger-side front airbag. That number includes roughly 381,000 Infiniti vehicles.
Apparently, the sensors that govern airbag deployment may be defective, which could result in inadequate crash protection for occupants. The following models, all 2013-2017MY units, are affected:
- Nissan Altima;
- Nissan LEAF;
- Nissan Maxima;
- Nissan Murano;
- Nissan Pathfinder;
- Nissan Rogue;
- Nissan Sentra
- Nissan NV200;
- Nissan NV Taxi;
- Infiniti JX35/QX60;
- Infiniti Q50.
This recall also targets 2013-2017 Chevrolet City Express vehicles that were built for GM by Nissan.
