Were Nissan’s emissions tests rigged? South Korea has just filed a complaint against the automaker for allegedly manipulating the results of tests conducted on its diesel-powered Qashqai crossover, Nikkei reports.
Sales of this model have been put on halt in the country, and the 824 units that were sold will be recalled. Nissan was also hit with a fine of 340 million won (approx. $377,000 CAD).
Nissan officials in South Korea have denied any wrongdoing, insisting they follow local laws and regulations. In fact, the Qashqai passed all tests and was certified by Korean authorities.
Whatever the truth is, this is another blow to the auto industry as it fuels consumer skepticism towards manufacturers.
