According to Spanish daily El Mundo, Spanish car manufactuerer Seat is about to leave the FIA World Touring Car Championship from 2010.
Seat is part of the Volkswagen group.
If Seat goes ahead with their plans, it would be a major upset, as experts expected the car manufacturer to decrease their involvement in the series -- similar to what BMW did -- and not to withdraw.
That would also mean that only three manufacturers would be officially competing in the WTCC this season -- Chevrolet, BMW and Lada.
In four seasons in the WTCC, Seat captured two manufacturers’ title and two drivers’ title with Yvan Muller in 2008 and Gabriele Tarquini in 2009.
A few Seat Leon TDIs should be privately entered this season.
