Now although the Los Angeles Auto Show touts itself as a Green Show as it names the Green Car of The Year (The Audi A3 TDI won in case you did not know), an Auto Show could not be exactly that if there were no jaw-droppingly gorgeous and ludicrously expensive Super Cars to show off.
Even if there was no shortage of hot seductive steel at the L.A. Convention Center, the absence of Italian Super Stars Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini as well as Bentley were felt. Thankfully, other makes like Chevrolet(?), Ford(?), Dodge(?) and Porsche did a great job filling in the gaps. The following are listed in no particular order.
1- Jay Leno's Twin-Turbo Chevy Camaro
Sporting a 3.6-litre direct-injected V6 with 2 blowers, this 425 hp has V8 SS power without much of a penalty in fuel economy. Add in some fancy wheels, a great bodykit with new rear diffuser, revised front fascia and hood and, well, I want one! Seriously though, this makes a big honky V8 less of an attractive tool to achieve big power. One way or another, I think Chevrolet should consider this as a potential powertrain for the near future.
2- The Lexus LF-A
No longer is it necessary for true supercars to come from Kraut-Country or the land of the boot. The LF-A has a high-revving angry sounding 4.8L V10 that puts out 552 hp. According to some who have driven it, the LF-A is the production car that most closely resembles an F1 in aural furry. With a top speed of 202 mph and a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of 3.6 seconds, it's plenty super for this list.
3- Porsche Boxster Spyder
Lighter, sexier and without the gluttonous excess weight of pointless amenities such as a radio or A/C, the Spyder is the fastest-ever Boxster. Its 3.4L flat 6-cylinder pumps out 320 hp (10 more than regular Boxster but equal to Cayman S). When equipped with the seven-speed PDK dual clutch gearbox, this true ragtop roadster reaches 60 mph (96 km/h) in only 4.6 seconds.
