For the second year in a row, Michel Jourdain left the Milwaukee Mile leading the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford standings. This year, however, his position at the top is considerably stronger source: cart.com - John Oreovicz The 26-year old Mexican avenged his heartbreaking loss earlier this year at Long Beach by dominating the Milwaukee Mile Centennial 250 in the first night race in CART history before 34,712 cold and hearty race fans. Jourdain led 234 of 250 laps on the way to his first Champ Car race win in eight years of trying - a statistic reflects unfairly on Michel because he's still just 26 years old. It's easy to forget that he was just 19 1/2 years old when he made his CART series debut at Long Beach back in 1996. Despite the best efforts of Paul Tracy and eventual second and third place finishers Oriol Servia and Patrick Carpentier, nobody had the pace to run with Jourdain's Gigante Lola/Ford all night long. Unlike at Long Beach, when a gearbox ended his bid for victory with a handful of laps remaining, Jourdain and Team Rahal finished the job, capping a competitive centennial race at the upgraded Milwaukee Mile. "This is just perfect," Jourdain exclaimed. "So many things can go wrong, especially on a short oval. You have to be smart and be careful. At the end I didn't want to catch any traffic that might spoil the chance for the win. When I saw the checkered flag and the car was still straight, that's when I celebrated."
