Kentucky Race Report
source: redbullcheeverracing.com Alex Barron: #51 Dallara/Toyota/Firestone Patrick Carpentier: #83 Dallara/Toyota/Firestone The Red Bull Cheever Racing team braved hot and humid conditions today at Kentucky Speedway in the Amber Alert Portal Indy 300, and brought home two solid finishes, including Alex Barron's best of the season. The race started with Barron in 18th and Patrick Carpentier in 19th, but it didn't take long for both drivers to march their way forward in the pack. By lap 100, the #83 car had moved to 10th and the #51 car was sitting in 12th. The pit crew played a major role down the stretch in today's race. Both crews made quick work of the race's four pit stops, which enabled both cars to move up on nearly every stop. By lap 171, Barron had moved into fifth position after a quick stop, but he wasn't content with just a top five. On the last restart, he passed Helio Castroneves and moved up one spot, but he couldn't quite catch the leaders and ended up with a fourth-place finish. This gives him five top-10 finishes on the season. "We're really happy with how things went today. We had a really good setup on the car, and it was really solid the whole race. The guys in the pits were the biggest thing today. We had super fast stops, and we moved forward in the field every time we came in. The engineers and crew also gave me a great car today. Everything we anticipated for today, we adjusted before we went out, and nailed it. Also, we didn't fall off at the end of our runs today, and I think that is key. This is great for the #51 crew because we've been working hard all year. Obviously, we would have liked to go for the win, but we're happy with fourth," Barron said. Patrick Carpentier was running right behind his teammate for the majority of the race and peaked at eighth after a quick stop on lap 171. During a late restart, a car in front of him hit its brakes, and he wasn't able to hold his position. He brought home a 12th-place finish, and still maintains the IndyCar Series lead for laps completed.
