With just a little luck, Alex Tagliani could have stolen one last Sunday afternoon in Cleveland
source: champcarworldseries.com As it was, Tags still finished fourth in the Grand Prix of Cleveland Presented by U.S. Bank for Derrick Walker's Team Australia in another strong showing from a group that barely knew each other three months ago. "We almost pulled it off but we probably needed one more lap of yellow to make it to the finish without out stopping that final time," said Tagliani, who led Laps 81-85 but had to make a late splash for fuel on Lap 87 of the 91-lap race. "It was a great call because with just a little bit of luck we could have won but we still came away with a good result and a bunch of points." This pairing of Walker and Tagliani is proving to be an unexpected hit that illustrates the positives of Champ Car's equal equipment. Other than a couple of refreshing runs by Darren Manning two years ago, Walker hasn't had much to cheer about and Tags found himself without a ride just before the season began after being dropped by Rocketsports. But this duo has already been on the podium at Monterrey (third), qualified in the top five three times and led its first laps on Sunday. "We were fortunate enough to put the deal together with Team Australia but it was late and we didn't get Tag until the 11th hour," said Walker, whose shown amazing resiliency since becoming a car owner in 1990.
