Since speculation, and rumor are running rampant... How about a slightly
different angle on the Ford/Jaguar announcement?

How about exploring another possible view of the events that just happened?
Here are two broad possibilities going forward, plus a third "bonus" option!
#1 Ford is able to sell Cosworth to a new owner.
Basically, Champ Car and GM have indicated that they are unconcerned about this
aspect based on their statements yesterday. GM specifically said:
"General Motors has had a business relationship with Cosworth for more than 30
years, and during this period Cosworth has been owned by a number of entities."
They went on to say that they expect their current agreement to be "unaffected".
#2 Ford is unable to sell Cosworth to a new owner, and liquidates the company.
In this case, the Champ Car World Series is in a very good position based on
their statement yesterday.
Champ Car indicated that, "It is important to note the Champ Car World Series
owns the Cosworth XFE engines our teams currently use and that this decision
will not impact Champ Car's ability to compete now or in the future."
In the event of liquidation, CCWS would apparently need to find a new engine
builder, which sources have indicated shouldn't be a major problem.
GM Racing indicated that their agreement was a "technology partnership".
